A very fine and rare French gold enamel quarter repeating “à toc” pocket watch, circa 1810.
Gold enamel case with the back lid engine turned and translucent cobalt blue enamelled, central polychrome enamel medallion: a putto at the altar of love, with a dog at his feet. Bezels with engine-turned and translucid cobalt blue enamel decoration with gold foliate decor and pusher for repetition via pendant. Signed enamel pierced dial with Arabic “Empire” numerals and filigree gold hands. Fire gilt full plate movement, keywind, signed, 2 hammers, chain/fusee, solid rounded movement pillars, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, florally engraved and pierced balance bridge.
