Gold verge pocket watch
–
A French 18 carat gold key wind pocket watch made by Thomassen in Lyon, circa 1804-1810. The movement is made of gilded brass and vase shaped with an engraved design. It features a fusee and chain, verge escapement and monometallic balance. The small eccentric white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals, an outer minute track and blued steel Breguet hands. The round shaped case is glazed on both sides and has a hinged back. The watch is signed on the movement. The hallmark on the stem is a cock’s head, which indicates that it is a provincial work made between 1809 and 1819.
