Extravagant numbered skeletonized quarter repeater
–
An extravagant skeletonized and numbered repeater with rare hanging cylinder escapement in the manner of Breguet, made in France circa 1810. The numbered and open faced case of this watch is crafted from 18 carat pink gold, is spiral engine turned on the back lid and bears the casemaker’s punch LE. The skeletonized dial has a white enamel chapter ring with black Arabic numerals for the hours and pink gold hands. The rare French repeater movement has a fine construction, a ‘hanging’ cylinder escapement with parachute and a mechanism for repeating the hours and quarters.
