–
A fine, keyless-winding, French pocket chronometer watch with chronograph and open-face, circa 1920.
This watch has two horological complications: 1/5 second chronograph (activated by the winding-crown) with a telemetric scale graduated for 6 kilometres – Half-instantaneous 30-minute recorder (subsidiary dial at 12 o’clock).
Polished 18-carat yellow gold case with an engraved back in taille-douce (fine cut) with the cypher L A. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minutes/seconds track, subsidiary dial for the constant seconds at 6, subsidiary dial for 30-minute recorder at 12, tachymeter, and Breguet hands. And gilded brass movement with going barrel, straight-line lever escapement, cut compensated balance, and blued steel hairspring with a terminal curve.
The case pendant is based on the Swiss invention patent No. 4 646, delivered to Louis-G on February 15, 1892. Tribaudeau, Besançon (France), for a Pendant perfectionné pour montres de tous genres (Pendant perfected for watches of all kinds).

Watch Factory Tribaudeau, French watch manufacturer and mail-order company
The Tribaudeau Watch Factory was a small traditional company founded in 1876 in Besançon, named after its founder: G. Tribaudeau. It was initially located at four rue d’Alsace, later in the district of Bregille, four rue des Fontenottes, at the foot of the mountain near the funicular station (show this location).

Tribaudeau sold their watches under the brand name “Trib” the company sold their products as a mail-order company; in addition to bags and wristwatches, they also sold clocks, alarm clocks, bijoux and jewels. The Tribaudeau company was also a delivery agent for Breitling. About fifty people worked in the factory before it closed in 1960. But thanks to a buyer who now manages the company that launched the Trib Créations brand name, a fresh start was possible in the 1980s.
