A very fine and rare, oval, single handed pre balance Renaissance watch with hour self strike and alarm. Brass case, regilt, the front cover lavishly engraved, the back cover pierced and ornamented with foliage decoration, the sides pierced and orally engraved decor. Silver dial,

inlaid radial Roman numerals “I-XII”, engraved alarm disc in the centre with Arabic numerals, orally engraved brass bezel, finely cut iron hand. Oval regilt brass, full plate movement, applied oral decorations, verge escapement, 1 pierced barrel for striking train, 1 barrel for alarm, chain/ fusee for going train, baluster movement pillars, blued top lock, ring balance, locking plate, 2 hammers, 1 bell.
