Gold, enamel and diamond set watch by A. Lange & Söhne
–
A German gold, enamel and diamond set lady’s lapel watch suspended ensuite with a matching brooch from chatelaine, circa 1900. This watch features a gilded 3/4 plate movement with a gold lever and escape wheel, along with a bimetallic compensation balance. It is signed and numbered by A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte b/Dresden, with the serial number 44096. The dial is white enamel with red Arabic numerals, an outer minute ring, and gold filigree hands, also signed A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte b/Dresden.
–
The 18k gold case has a back with translucent red guilloché enamel, a diamond set floral wreath in the centre, and is surrounded by Rococo style chased and engraved scrolls. The bezel and band have a stippled finish, and the plain polished gold cuvette is also signed A. Lange & Söhne, Glashütte, with the case back and cuvette numbered 44096 and bearing German control marks. Additionally, it comes with a chatelaine brooch form, two suspension chains, gold, enamel and diamond set, decorated en suite to the watch’s case back.

The watch is in working condition, but it is a bit dirty. The dial is in good condition with a couple of minor chips at the left edge, which are concealed by the bezel. The case and chatelaine have light scuffs and scratches, but the enamel decoration is in good overall condition, with a very small chip at the top edge below the hand setting olivette. The winding crown has been replaced with a later goldplated one. The marks on the inside back and cuvette are rubbed, and there is some slight gapping at the opening of the case back on the left side. There is dirt infill around the central diamond of the case back.

Signed: A.Lange & Söhne, Glashütte
