A rare, German one-handed pre-balance Renaissance watch with hour self-strike and Master’s mark MK, circa 1580. Bronze case, lavishly engraved, ornamented and pierced, firegilt, and front lid with 12 apertures for hour numerals. Engraved brass dial with radial Roman numerals and blued hand. Firegilt full plate brass movement with iron going and striking train, two barrels for hour self strike and going train, verge escapement, locking plate with internal teeth, one hammer, bell, stackfreed and foliot.
