A fine Swiss gold and enamel hunting cased lever watch made for the Turkish market, circa 1850, gilt lateral lever movement, gold cuvette signed Lebet à Genève.
White enamel dial, Turkish numerals, case back with maker’s mark JB, double sided polychrome enamel panels on pink background depicting a bouquet of flowers, framed by a green and orange translucent enamel, engraved gold decoration to the edge, reeded band. Signed and numbered on the cuvette.

The brothers Henri -Louis Courvoisier and Philippe-Auguste Courvoisier traded from 1842 under the name “Courvoisier Frères”. Specializing in high-quality clocks, they were commissioned in the same year by the city of La Chaux-de-Fonds to build a clock for the Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm IV; this is supposed to have been the thinnest clock in the world at the time. The company Courvoisier Frères was historically a successor to the company Courvoisier et Cie.In 1852 the company was heavily restructured and Henri-Louis and Philippe-Auguste Courvoisier left the company.The new company consisted of 3 sons of Henri-Louis; Henri-Édouard Courvoisier, (1823-1882), Louis-Philippe Courvoisier (1825-1885) and Jules-Ferdinand Courvoisier. (1830-1905). In 1862 the company received a Honorable Mention at the London Exposition and a Silver Medal at the Paris Exposition in 1876. The company was also listed as Jules & Louis Courvoisier, along with Ernest Francillon, Léon Gallet and Constant Girard-Gallet, who founded the Brothers the Intercantonal Association of the Jurassic Industries.
