A fine French gold quarter repeating semi skeletonized manually wound pocket watch with automaton and key, circa 1820. Gilt brass movement, virgule escapement, steel escape wheel, flat balance spring, repeating on gongs. Transparent cuvette. White enamel chapter ring with Breguet numerals, outer minute divisions, transparent centre depicting a multi coloured gold scene with a rampant lion and a monkey, striking the hours and quarters on scythe and triangle held by The Father of Time. Plain case, repeating on gongs by depressing the pendant. Dial signed.
