A similar watch from the same period with this  unusual hardstone decoration was sold at Sotheby’s Geneva, lot 161,14 November 2010, Breguet No. 4936 sold on March 20, 1839, to Mme La Générale Adadouroffe. The decoration of the present example is very typical of the production from Jean-Baptiste. Fossin and his son Jules who were highly skilled Paris jewellers. For a time they were the directors of master jewellers at Chaumet.
