A Swiss rose gold open faced double wheel duplex quarter repeating pocket watch, circa 1800. Gilt movement, double wheel duplex escapement, compensation balance. Signed and numbered gilt cuvette.
White enamel dial, Breguet numerals and blued steel moon hands. Milled band, 18 carat engine turned case back. Dial, movement and cuvette signed.

The Jürgensen family were among the world’s greatest watch makers of the 18th and 19th Centuries. They greatly contributed to the development of horology. Urban Jürgensen (1776 – 1830) was appointment by the Danish King, Frederick VI to supply the Court with watches and the Admiralty with chronometers. Urban married the daughter of Frederic Houriet in Switzerland. This piece is typical of the regular watches produced by Urban Jurgensen for civil use.
