Edouard Perregaux was born on October 10, 1819, in Le Locle, Switzerland and was probably a nephew of Henri François Perregaux. He founded a workshop in Le Locle in the early 1840s. In addition to precision watch movements, he manufactured pocket chronometers, minute repeaters and chronographs of all kinds. His anker chronometers achieved excellent test results. Perregaux won several prizes in the chronometer tests at the Observatory Neuchâtel. Edouard died in 1878.
