A fine, rare and attractive Swiss silver gilt, enamel and pearl set open faced center seconds duplex watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Finely chased and engraved floral decorated gilt finished duplex movement.
Engraved gilt Chinese caliber, free-standing barrel,counter poised lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel flat balance spring, diamond endstone, index regulator.
Dial, and movement signed.
The case back painted on enamel with a tiger attacking a hunting party in a howdah upon an elephant, pearl-set bezels, pendant andbow. Glazed cuvette.
White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals. Gold hands, pearl set bezel, rim, pendant and bow.
