A lovely Swiss gilt, painted on enamel and pearl set centre seconds pocket watch, circa 1860. Made for the Chinese market. Enamel scene of a lion family resting in the field. An Empire case, reeded band, the back painted on enamel with a lion family, pearl set bezels, pendant and bow. Glazed gilt rimmed cover over the movement. White enamel dial, narrow radial Roman numerals, centre seconds, outer minute divisions and blued steel Chinese hands. Entirely engraved gilt movement, Chinese calibre, ten jewels, free standing barrel, Chinese duplex escapement, three arm balance with blued steel winged weights, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Case numbered.
