Gilt-brass duplex lady’s watch with centre seconds

A fine, small Swiss, gilt-brass, painted on enamel, pearl-set, centre seconds, lady’s pendant watch with duplex escapement, circa 1860. Rose and Violet Bouquet by Edouard Juvet, Fleurier. Made for the Chinese market. An Empire case, the back cover decorated with a painted on enamel bouquet of flowers including roses, peonies, violets and pansies, the bezels, pendant and bow set with split-pearls. Hinged gilt metal cuvette fixed to the movement ring. White enamel dial, radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel ovoid hands. A frosted gilt brass movement, Chinese bridge calibre, escapement jewelled, standing barrel, single-wheel duplex escapement, monometallic balance with winged weights, blued steel flat balance spring, index regulator. Movement signed.
