A very interesting early pocket watch with Grande Sonnerie and case with engraved coat of arms of the Russian Empire, made circa 1800. The numbered open faced case is crafted from 18 Carat gold and has engine turned decoration on the back with the coat of arms of the Russian empire in the center. The white enamel dial has Arabic hour numerals and Breguet steel hands. The glazed movement has an extremely rare caliber, a cylinder escapement, quarter hour self strike Grande Sonnerie, independent quarter hour repeater via a small push button in the pendant and two barrels.

The watch comes with a unique key set with gemstones, probably Russian and is technically a masterpiece of watchmaking art. The engraved coat of arms and the unusual key indicate that the watch was probably made for the Russian Empire. Pocket watches with Grande Sonnerie are among the greatest rarities among watches with striking mechanisms. They are the most complicated early percussion mechanisms ever!
