Gold open faced cylinder watch

An early and important French 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating pocket watch made by Jean-Antoine Lépine in Paris, circa 1810. The case with an engine turned back, plain bezels, pendant and bow, and maker’s mark IF. White enamel dial with Breguet hour numerals, outer minute divisions and blued steel hands. Glazed full plate movement with a ruby cylinder escapement, cylindrical pillars, going barrel, plain brass three arm balance and flat balance spring, repeating on gongs with the repeating work on the back plate. Signed on the dial, cuvette and movement.
