A very fine Swiss Directoire gold enamel verge pocket watch studded with pearls, circa 1790.
The 18 Carat rose gold case, has a paillon border on the bezel, an opaque polychrome enamelled back panel decorated with a very fine portrait of a young woman sitting in a garden, on a cobalt blue translucent ground over engine-turning; a case band with translucent light blue enamel set with pearls, an enamelled pendant, and a glazed backside. It has a signed enamel dial with Arabic numerals and gold Breguet hands. And the signed, keywind, fire gilt, fine full plate movement, has chain/fusee, a three-arm brass balance, and an engraved and florally pierced balance bridge.
