Gold repoussé chronograph
–
An exceptional and very large French 18 carat gold open faced minute repeating keyless pocket watch with chronograph and instantaneous 60 minute register made by Chaudé in Paris, circa 1880. The case back chased with a scene depicting ancient warriors storming a palace, rocaille borders, and the band, front bezel and bow are decorated to match.
–
White enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track with fifth of a second divisions and Arabic five minute numerals, a 60 minute register at 12 o’clock, subsidiary seconds at 6 and gold Louis XV hands. A frosted gilt movement with 37 jewels, a straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, blued steel Breguet balance spring with an outer terminal curve and an index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by a slide on the band. Cuvette signed, and the scene is punched with the chaser’s mark, a knight in a shield.
