A very fine Swiss, 18K yellow gold and enamel pearl-set watch, circa 1790. Euterpe by Patry & Chaudoir à Genève. The gold bezels are engraved with foliate decoration and set with small split-pearls, the back with a polychrome enamel depiction of Euterpe, the muse of music, on a royal blue enamel over a guilloché ground with gold paillonné decoration. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minutes. Pierced gold hands. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock, polished steel end-piece. Signed on the dial and backplate.
