An exceptionally large Swiss silver-gilt, enamel and pearl-sets open faced centre seconds lever pocket watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1880. Attributed to J. Ullmann & Co, La Chaux-de-Fonds, Hong Kong, Shanghai and Tientsin. The case back with a polychrome enamel portrait of a woman on blue guilloché enamel ground, both bezels set with half-pearls. White enamel dial with radial Roman hours, outer minutes/seconds track with Arabic fifteen-minute/second numerals, central seconds and blued steel hands. Gold-plated splendidly decorated movement, the calibre presumably by Bovet, lever escapement with pendulum. Case and movement with a Chinese signature.
