A fine and amusing French gold and enamel cylinder pocket watch with a concealed erotic scene, circa 1820. Theatre Of Love by Breguet.
Frosted gilt, full plate movement, turned pillars, fusee with chain, cylinder escapement, pierced and chased continental balance-cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation disc.
White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic quarter-hour numerals, pierced gold hands. An Empire case, the bezel, band, pendant and bow with foliate chasing, hinged back cover pierced and engraved with a proscenium arch, the aperture showing a polychrome painted-on enamel vignette of a young couple, the cover opens to reveal the hidden erotic part of the enamel. Dial and movement with faux Breguet signature.
