An exceptional Swiss gentleman’s quarter repeating pocket watch with carillon and virgule escapement, circa 1800.
18 Carat gold, radial engine-turned case, with engraved monogram and coronet, reeded band, signed dome, case maker’s punch mark DF, pusher for repetition via pendant, and locking slide for striking mechanism in the case band. Gold dial with an engine-turned centre, inlaid Arabic numerals, centre part with foliate decor, and blued Breguet hands. And gilt bridge movement with three hammers / three gongs, standing barrel, gold three-arm balance, and keywind.
