–
A Swiss, French platinum Art Deco open faced watch with a two-tone dial and chain, circa 1925. This watch features a mechanical movement with 19 jewels and a lever escapement. It has a two-tone dial with gold Roman radial hours, an outer minute track, and gold Breguet-style hands. The platinum case has a snap-on case back. The dial is signed by Cartier, the case is numbered, the movement is signed by European Watch & Clock, and the bow has a Cartier hand-stamped reference number 000’103.

–
The combination of watches made by both European Watch & Clock and Cartier is of equal quality. The preset watch features a two-tone dial and a thin, stepped case and is preserved in excellent and very crisp condition. The watch is further accentuated by its platinum period chain.
–
The timepiece is in working condition. The case is well-preserved and retains its original crispness, showing only minor surface wear. The dial is quite appealing, with slight discolouration and tarnishing. The chain is marked as platinum on the lock.

The European Watch and Clock Co. was established in the 1920s as a collaboration between Cartier and Edmond Jaeger of the LeCoultre & Cie watch factory. Cartier worked with various watch movement manufacturers, including Vacheron Constantin, Audemars Piguet, and Movado, but many of their top products featured movements from the European Watch & Clock Company, which were manufactured at Jaeger-LeCoultre’s Le Sentier factory in Switzerland. The watch cases were made in Paris, Geneva, London, and New York, with each branch responsible for its production. However, the French branch also exported its watches to other stores. In 1930, Jaeger partnered with Jacques-David LeCoultre to form Jaeger-LeCoultre. In the 1920s, Henri Rodanet, the technical director of the Etablissements Ed. Jaeger, developed the Calibre Duoplan, one of the smallest movements with high accuracy.
