A fine and rare Swiss 18K gold, enamel and pearl-set open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1790. A Louis XVI case, the back finely painted on enamel depicting a couple in love walking in a landscape on a Royal blue guilloché ground, the border and bezel are pearl-set, engraved band. White enamel dial, Arabic hours, outer minute divisions and Arabic fifteen-minute numerals, gilt fancy hands. A hinged gilt-brass full plate movement with turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, continental cock with polished steel endplate, a silvered regulation dial.
