Gold verge with outer glazed protective case

An excellent Swiss 18 carat gold, painted on enamel, pearl and rose cut diamond set pocket watch with outer glazed giltmetal protective case, circa 1790. The bezel is set with pearls, the back decorated with translucent royal blue guilloche enamel decorated with gold paillons and with a dog and two doves, applied rose cut diamond set highlights. The centre with a navette shaped gold and white enamel sunburst set with rose cut diamonds. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer minute track with Arabic fifteen minute numerals and rose cut diamond set hands. Matte gilt, full plate movement, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three arm brass balance, flat balance spring, pierced and chased continental cock with polished steel endplate, silvered regulation dial. Movement signed, case and movement numbered.

This late 18th century watch has survived in remarkable condition probably due to the survival of the outer protecting case. The enamel and decoration are near perfect and unrestored with a perfect enamel dial. An excellent example for the collector.
