Gold and enamel lever pocket watch

A very fine and rare Swiss 18K gold and painted-on enamel hunting cased pocket watch with dual calendar indication, circa 1850. Foliate engraved case, the front cover with a very finely painted enamel portrait of Sultan Abd-ul-Mejid (1823-1861) against a sky background, green, red and white champlevé enamel border, the back cover decorated with a finely painted enamel view of Constantinople from the Bosphorus within a border to match the front and a hinged gold cuvette. White enamel dial with radial Islamic numerals, outer minute track, subsidiary dials for seconds and day and date calendar with Islamic characters. Black Breguet hands. A matte gilt movement, bar calibre, lateral lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, flat balance spring, and an index regulator. Cuvette signed.
