A Swiss 18 Carat gold open faced lever captain’s pocket watch with independent center seconds, circa 1860. Key wound gilt bar movement with two suspended going barrels, plain cock with polished steel parachute suspension, blue steel regulator with temperature compensation curb, uncut bi metallic balance with spiral hairspring, club foot lever escapement. Gold engraved dial, independent center seconds, subsidiaries for continuous seconds and two chapters for time, the chapter of Roman numerals running constantly and one of the Arabic numerals running only when the independent seconds’ train is in use, blued steel hands. Substantial purpose made plain case with clip on back and bezel.
