Gold pocket chronometer by Auguste Courvoisier
–
An interesting, early, rare Swiss gold hunting cased pocket chronometer made for the Turkish market circa 1850. The watch is made of 18K gold and has an à-goutte engine turned hunting case with a relief band. Both sides of the case have spring lids, and the dome is signed and numbered. The watch has an early key winding bar movement with a chronometer escapement. The dial is magnificent and made of 4-coloured gold. It is engraved in the centre and has Ottoman numerals, a subsidiary dial for the seconds, and original hands. The watch is in working order, but the case has some small dents. It is a very rare piece.
