A very fine Swiss, 18K yellow gold and painted on enamel pocket watch, circa 1800. Allegory of Love by Chevalier & Comp., Geneva. The back with a polychrome enamel depiction of a young lady with a dove’s nest in her lap and a cupid at her left under a tree on a translucent blue enamel over guilloché ground, blue and white diamond patterned enamel to the bezel. White enamel dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, Arabic fifteen minutes winding aperture at 2 with arrow mount. Gold fancy hands. A frosted gilt full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement brass balance with flat balance spring, continental cock pierced and engraved with the letters Chevalier. Dial, movement and cock signed.
