The present watch has been in the family of the original owner since its purchase. Its provenance is further confirmed by the beautiful engraving on the case back specifying its date of sale, 1886, as confirmed by the Extract from the Archives. It has remained unused and untouched at the bottom of a cedar chest since 1950 until recently re-discovered by the current owner. This is the first time this watch has appeared at auction.
