A Swiss fine and rare pair of complementary silver gilt enamel and pearl center seconds watches made for the Chinese market, circa 1860, identically numbered gilt metal ‘Chinese Calibre’ movements with bridges engraved overall with scrolls, large bimetallic compensation balance, glazed cuvette.
White enamel dials, Roman numerals, bezels, pendant and bow set with seed pearls, the cases polychrome enameled with a complementary pair of lion hunt scenes depicting a turbaned hunter on a rearing horse shooting a lion with another hunter in the foreground and elephant in the back ground within a palm tree festooned landscape.
