Open faced repeating watch with Jacquemarts by Antoine Achard & Co.

A Swiss, key-winding, multicoloured skeleton pocket watch with quarter-repeater and three striking Jacks on three gongs, circa 1800-1810.
Round-shaped 18-carat yellow gold case. Small, white enamel dial with Breguet numerals, outer minute track, and original blued steel Breguet hands. Gilded brass movement with fusee and chain, verge escapement, monometallic balance (gilded brass), blued steel flat hairspring, and a pierced and engraved gilded continental cock.
This extremely rare pocket watch model with three Jacks striking on three gongs has one horological complication: – Quarter-repeater on three steel gongs (activated by depressing the pendant). The chiselled varicoloured gold scene shows two Jacquemarts (Jacks), Caesar & Cleopatra, striking the elapsed time (Cleopatra strikes the hours and the first shot of the quarters while Caesar strikes the second shot of the quarters, and, below, a cherub strikes a third shot at every quarter; all animated by the repeating mechanism.
