Unique coach clock with minute repeater
–
A unique astronomical coach clock with nine complications, including a minute repeater, made in Switzerland circa 1800. This numbered, full hunter coach watch was crafted from silver and its hinged protective case with stand allows it to be used as a standing watch. The white enamel dial features Arabic numerals for fifteen minute intervals, Roman hour numerals, a subsidiary seconds dial at 3 o’clock, a date dial at 9 o’clock, a day of the week indicator at 12 o’clock and gold hands. The heavy, high quality and intricate movement incorporates an experimental lever escapement and nine complications: a solar and lunar calendar, jumping seconds, a minute repeater, optional quarter hour or hour self strike and alarm, three barrels and five hammers.

The watch presented here is one of the most complex and rarest coach clocks known. The minute repeater alone on a coach clock is an absolute rarity and it is extremely difficult if not impossible to find another coach clock as complicated as this one.
