A verge watch with early Jacquemart figure automaton, made by Esquivillon et Deschoudens in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1800. The case of this watch was crafted from silver and features a reeded band and a numbered cuvette. The face features an Jacquemart figure automaton, especially beautiful version of a figure automaton with three coloured figures of very fine quality, a central screwed white enamel dial with outer track for the minutes, Arabic hour numerals and Breguet hands. The movement is fitted with a verge escapement, an hours and quarters repeater and a Jacquemart figure automaton.

Notes
Les Frères Esquivillon & De Choudens
Les Frères Esquivillon & De Choudens manufactured their watches in both Paris, France and Geneva, Switzerland.
The firm’s operations were established in these two major European horological centers during their primary period of activity between approximately 1765 and 1830. Their ability to manufacture in both cities allowed them to cater to the high end markets of both the French capital and the center of Swiss watchmaking excellence and their watches often carried inscriptions or signatures referencing these origins on the dials or internal machinery.
