Silver open faced coach watch by Jaques Roux

A large Swiss silver pocket watch with centre-seconds and small eccentric hour- and minute-chapter, circa 1770-1780.
Silver, polished, à goutte case with case maker’s punch mark C&C under the crown and a large lateral hinge. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals, eccentric hour indicator, centre seconds, eccentric chapter rings to indicate the date and weekday, and gilt hands. Key-winding, gilded brass, full plate movement, florally engraved, with chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, verge escapement, monometallic balance, and blued steel flat hairspring Two horological complications: Date of the month (subsidiary dial at 10 o’clock), Day of the week (subsidiary dial at 2 o’clock; indications given in French). Dial and movement signed.

Jaques Roux, Swiss watchmaker in Geneva
Jaques Roux was born in Geneva in 1756 to Jaques Roux senior and Marie Magdelaine Bost. He married Madeleine Dalleizette (before 1764-after 1833), and two daughters are known from this marriage, Anne Jeanne (1784-1794) and Marie Louise Roux (1783-after 1833). Marie Louise married the watchmaker Jean François Macaire.
On July 17th, 1833, Jaques Roux died in Geneva, possibly 77 years old.
