A Swiss small silver coach watch with calendar, circa 1780.
Silver, polished, à goutte case with case maker’s punch mark C&C under a crown and large lateral hinge. Enamel dial with Arabic numerals, eccentric hour indicator, centre seconds, eccentric chapter rings to indicate the date and weekday, gilt hands, and blued seconds hand. Full plate movement, florally engraved, frosted, gilt and signed, with chain/fusee, conical movement pillars, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance and engraved, pierced balance bridge.

Jaques Roux was born in Geneva in 1756 to Jaques Roux senior and Marie Magdelaine Bost. He married Madeleine Dalleizette (before 1764-after 1833), and two daughters are known from this marriage, Anne Jeanne (1784-1794) and Marie Louise Roux (1783-after 1833). Marie Louise married the watchmaker Jean François Macaire.
On July 17th, 1833, Jaques Roux died in Geneva, possibly 77 years old.
