A small silver-gilt enamel and pearl-set open faced watch made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Gilt full plate Chinese movement engraved with foliate decoration, verge escapement, three-arm balance, pierced and engraved balance bridge, white enamel dial, painted black Roman numerals, outer minute track, centre seconds, silver gilt case, the back with a painted enamel floral bouquet over a blue background, bezels set with pearls, glazed cuvette, dial and movement signed.

Dimier et Cie is recorded as active around 1835 in the rue Croix d’Or 27; they exported small watches in gilt brass, or gold and enamel, and cases often with floral, pearl-set decor. They are further recorded at Quai des Bergues,31 in 1857 and Quai des Etuves, 31, in 1860.
