Unsigned gold and enamel pocket watch, probably Geneva
–
A large, unique Swiss gold/enamel pocket watch with musical movement, circa 1800. This timepiece features a special gold case that is glazed on both sides. The band is intricately designed with a beautiful relief work surrounding the watch. The design represents a hunting scene with dogs and deer and rural scenes with a shepherd, goats, and sheep. The barns have wells, and the case back is glazed with a very detailed enamel painting, that features seven figures, (which is professionally restored).
–
The watch has an unusual cylinder movement with a musical movement. The back of the watch is winding for the musical movement, while the face is winding for the movement. The rim has a slider for releasing the musical movement. The watch also features an enamel dial (with small peripheral imperfections). The dial has Breguet-style radial hours and an outer minutes track. The blued steel and gold hands are particularly beautiful.
