Quarter repeating Jacquemart watch by Berthoud

A French 18 carat gold skeletonized quarter repeating pocket watch with three colour gold Jacquemart automaton, circa 1820. Gilt brass full plate movement with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-armed balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved bridge cock with ruby end stone, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the gold pendant.
White enamel dial, Arabic numerals, outer minute divisions, the outer border with three colour gold Jacquemart figures appearing to strike bells when the repeating is activated and blued steel moon Breguet hands. Empire-style case, polished bezel, reeded band, engine turned back cover. Cuvette signed Berthoud a Paris.
