Open faced à goutte (water drop) shaped pocket watch
–
A unique very fine gold enamel numbered pocket watch chronometer, made by F. Veyrat in Genève, Switzerland, circa 1860. The open faced numbered case of this watch with casemaker’s punch AE is crafted from 18 Carat gold, is of excellent case quality, has an à goutte (water drop) shape and a very fine ‘en grisaille’ enamel painting on back. The decorative white enamel dial has an outer ring with gold Arabic numerals for the minutes (outside) and black Roman numerals for the hours (inside), a subsidiary seconds dial with gold Arabic numerals at six o’clock and original fleur de lys steel hands. The exquisite anker chronometer movement has Wolf’s toothing, a very big chronometer balance with gold screws, a very large moustache lever escapement as also used by Patek Philippe.
Cuvette is signed and numbered.
