Very fine lady’s watch with gemstones

A Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel pair cased verge watch with jewels, circa 1760. Former nobility possession. Early Geneva verge movement with high and steep fuse, very nice pillars. Outer case elaborately engraved and enameled, depicting a coronet with biblical commentary: justus ut palma florebit (will be green like a palm tree), surrounded by red enamel, studded with red and white gemstones, plain inner case. White enamel dial and (presumably) original hand. Comes with original matching gold and enamel key.

Isaac Soret was born in Geneva in 1673 as the son of Barthélemy Soret and Susanne Terroux. He married Hélène Definod (ca 1675-1742) and founded the company Isaac Soret & Fils in 1750. He died on 27 November 1750 in Geneva, 77 years old.
