Gold elaborately engraved lever watch
–
A magnificent hunting cased pocket watch made by Elgin National Watch Co. in Elgin, Illinois, U.S.A., circa 1880. This watch features an elaborately decorated numbered case of which all lids are crafted from 14 carat gold. Both sides are engraved with scrolls and alternating dragons on the outer border, and flowers and a fan in the center, the one on the back set with a brilliant cut diamond, all on a guilloché ground. The white enamel dial has Roman hour numerals, an outer minute track, a subsidiary seconds dial at 6 o’clock and blued steel spade hands. The numbered movement has a lever escapement.
The dial and movement are signed.
