A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1785. Hinged, gilt brass full plate movement with hexagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, continental cock with polished endplate, silvered regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, original gold beetle and poker hands. Louis XVI case, the back finely painted on enamel depicting a young man and lady in a landscape, blue and gold paillon frame with gold paillon borders, the bezels with chased laurel leaf pattern. Dial and movement signed.
