A fine and rare Swiss 18 carat gold and enamel open faced verge pocket watch, circa 1785. Hinged, gilt-brass full plate movement with turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement with micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, continental cock with polished steel end-plate, silvered regulation dial. White enamel dial with Roman numerals, outer minute divisions and Arabic five-minute numerals, original gold beetle and poker hands. Louis XVI case, the back finely painted on enamel depicting a young lady with a letter and her daughter in a landscape, Royal blue guilloché background, white and gold paillon border, the bezels with royal blue, white and gold paillon decoration. Dial and movement signed, case numbered on the pendant.
