Gold pair-cased verge pocket watch

A very fine Swiss 18K gold, enamel and paste-set pair-cased verge pocket watch, circa 1785. Outer case: Louis XVI, paste-set bezel, the back with painted enamel scene of a lady greeting her amour in a classical landscape, gold paillon border within a paste-set and enamel leaf border. Inner case: polished, White enamel dial with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track and Arabic five-minute numerals, gold Louis XV hands. Hinged gilt-brass full plate movement with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endplate, silver regulation dial. Dial and movement signed.
