Varicoloured gold open faced pocket watch

A fine French 20 carat varicoloured gold and diamond-set open faced verge pocket watch, Diana & Endymion, circa 1765. Matte gilt dial, Ø 37 mm, cylindrical pillars, fuse and chain, verge escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, pierced and engraved continental cock with steel endplate, silvered regulation dial, formerly repeating on a bell in the back of the case. Convex white enamel dial with Roman hours, an outer minute track, large Arabic five-minute numerals and rose-cut diamond-set Louis hands. A Louis XV case, the bezel is chased and engraved with flowers and scrolls, the pendant is set with a large rose-cut diamond, the back with a chased varicoloured gold scene depicting Diana and Endymion with Cupid, a chased and engraved scroll border. Movement signed.
