–
Master watchmaker Abraham Vacheron Girod (1760-1845) was Jean-Marc Vacheron’s son.
–
He took over his father’s workshop in 1785 and renamed the firm Abraham Vacheron Girod in 1786 following his marriage to Anne-Elisabeth Girod. He partnered with his brother-in-law Barthélémy Girod, representing an important early chapter in the lineage of what is known today as Vacheron Constantin SA.
–
The company operated as Vacheron Girod until 1816, when Girod retired. It transitioned to Vacheron Chossat under Charles-François Chossat and then eventually, under Jean-Marc Vacheron’s grandson, Jacques-Barthélemy, welcomed François Constantin in 1819 to form Vacheron & Constantin.
–
The historical name Abraham Vacheron Girod was revived by Vacheron & Constantin around 1822 as a secondary trade name for specific watch lines.
