Gold open faced verge pocket watch

A French open faced verge pocket watch in an ornately decorated gold case, made by Miloir in Oirvault, circa the second half of the 18th century. The watch features a gilt movement signed MILOIR à Oirvault, equipped with a chain and verge escapement. It has a white enamel dial with Roman numeral hour markers, outer railway minute divisions, Arabic five minute divisions, a winding square at nine o’clock, and Louis XV style hands. The gold case is decorated with radiating patterns and engraved geometric motifs, bearing the goldsmith’s hallmark: P.P. The set includes a lyre shaped key made of yellow gold and steel, measuring 47 mm in height.
