A fine and rare French quarter repeating à toc 18K two-colour gold pocket watch set with a painted on ivory miniature portrait of a lady, circa 1775. A Louis XVI case, the bezel decorated with two-colour gold fruiting vines, the backset with a painted on ivory miniature portrait of a lady within a glazed compartment. White enamel dial with Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and Arabic 15-minute numerals, winding aperture at 2, gold sun hands. A gilt full plate movement, turned pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, three-arm brass balance, flat balance spring, continental balance cock, silver regulation dial, repeating with two hammers on blocks in the case activated by depressing the pendant. Movement signed.
